Preamble: Iman is Between Fear and Hope
Objective: Trying to eliminate the common mistakes of being one side minded with regards to in the Context of Fear and Hope.
Introduction & History: The following statement is Historically believed by the Muhaddiseen.
"A believer should have equal amounts of fear and hope; more fear of Allah’s wrath during times of good health, and extra hope in His mercy during illness & before death".
Imam Bukhari and Nawawi (rahimahumallah) have also quoted this statement as a sub heading in their hadith compilations.
(See Bukhari and Fathul Bari, hadith: 6469 & Riyadus Saliheen 443)

Advice: Kindly read to the end before jumping to any conclusion, then I will be grateful to you if you be kind enough to correct me.
A Quote: From the Shaikh-ul-Islam Awaarullah Farooqui (رحمة لله علىـہ) bani-e-Jamia Nizamia (founder of Jamia Nizamia, Deccan Hyderabad, India).
Please pardon me, as I don't remember the exact words, however it was something like this, He said, "Satan leaves that City where comes the Scholar who only speaks about the Mercy", It is because people will end up forgetting that Allah s.w.t is also (Al-Jalil الجليل, Qahhar القهار) (The Mighty, The Subduer), it is thus the Scholars speaks both about Mercy & Punishment.
Some Common Misunderstandings:1. First and foremost we must understand that the Satan will attack us from all 4 Directions, to this some of us thought that it attacks from North, South, East & West this is not the final level of ignorance we go one step further and tells that, "this is the reason one is close/near to Allah s.w.t during Prostration", their explanation is that "as we are not facing any of the 4 directions that Satan attacks viz. East, West, North & South", Innalillahi wa inna elaihi rajeoun.
2. It would be a lengthy Topic only to find out that it won't end this easily, however Deen-e-Islam is not complicated it is just that it is vast still sweet and simple. Just to touch the topic(This is not the exact sequence nor the final conclusion).
1st Direction: It Attacks the Sinner from the (Let's say from Right Direction) such that the person will never move towards Good Actions [Hasanath/Good Deeds].
2nd Direction: It Attacks the pious from the (Let's say left Direction) such that It will never let the (so called) Pious person Repent [Tauba/Repent].
3rd Direction: It Attacks the Arrogant person from the (Let's say Back side) such that it will never let you consider others to be better than you [Inkesari/Humble].
4th Direction: It Attacks the Humble person from the (Let's say front Side) such that it will never let you stop the arrogance around you [Ghafil/Ignorant].
Sorry i am off the Track, this topic is too interesting to be left (let me see if someone is interested enough to leave a comment [sign in with google id]).
3. It is thus Satan/Devil never let us see the other side and constantly attacks us from opposite direction of our thinking point such that we never leave that thinking no matter what, This is where our Blog Tazkiya-E-Nafs is willing to crawl as this can not even be considered as crawling else no one will go to Qanqah which are Oldest School in Islam where we taught to perform actions which are opposite to our nature. Just one Example. If I am too proud of myself they will make me kiss their feets & carry their sandals (Off Topic: Trust me, I heard them reciting Astagfirullah when I performed such Action, let us leave this matter aside).
4. In Short this Ummah is splitted in to 73 groups & the Rasoolallah pbuh said only one group is safe (from hell), rest are gumrah (those who lost their way to Heavens/Paradise/Jannah), Here we end up using (wrongly) different Terminology like, Mushrik, Munafiq, Riyakar, Mutakabbir and so on, if I say something more you may not read this topic at all.
5. What was required is to understand the concept that "The Iman Lies between Fear and Hope", Meaning we can not just side the Fear(Taqwa, Repentance/Astaghfar) nor we can just side the Hope (Rahmat/Mercy, one example is Durood-o-salam). For that we must constantly without stopping turn ourselvs towards our own opposite direction, Allah s.w.t is so Kareem/kind that he helped us by allowing the other 72 Groups to remain in their existance that too merely out of their own will and resisting the Hidaya, while Allah s.w.t is constantly calling them too towards the right path (Thru Quran, Hadith, Aulama wa Auliya).
Methods of Rectification:
6. How come choosing to side Fear(Taqwa) will make us against Islam?
To be Honest it wont, however it will be our unwillingness to have similar faith in Hope.
To make matters more clear for us to understand (this is just an example do not hold me for such claims - Nakhl-e-Kufr Kufr Nabashat, It is somewhat like an example where the Mercy of Allah s.w.t is explained to that of 70+ mothers, again these are merely examples for us to understand the concept, you could help me by coming up with better examples thanks in advance).
let say by Fear we mean the two names of Allah s.w.t (Al-Jalil الجليل, Qahhar القهار) (The Mighty, The Subduer), what we actually did was we have more faith in these two names of Allah s.w.t but (decreased faith) ignored the other two names (Ar-Rahman الرحمن, Ar-Rahim الرحيم)(The All-Compassionate and The Most Merciful), can we expect to remain Momin/Muslim after refusing to believe these two names of Allah s.w.t in the way how they were supposed to be believed?
7. The same is true about the Hope (Ar-Rahman الرحمن, Ar-Rahim الرحيم). Once we favor only one side.
(There is nothing like exaggeration when it comes to praying Allah s.w.t, a bit similar concept is found when it comes to praise of Rasooallah pbuh we have full kalima not partial).
This Means that when we started to bend more towards the Mercy we will be decreasing our faith about the other two names of Allah s.w.t (Al-Jalil الجليل, Qahhar القهار), Can one remain a Muslim/Momin after refusing to believe these two names of Allah s.w.t in the same proportion? Answer is No.
8. What are the visible side affects of Bending more towards Fear/Taqwa (Al-Jalil الجليل, Qahhar القهار)?
Those who bend more towards Fear (Al-Jalil الجليل, Qahhar القهار) they are most likely to stop using the opportunities the (Ar-Rahman الرحمن, Ar-Rahim الرحيم) has offered, I will discuss just one of it, in the name of Rasoolallah pbuh (Rahmatul Alameen - Mercy for all the Worlds).
To be precise for some people Reciting Durood-o-Salam is shirk, Biddat etc, thus they wont recite themselves moreover they wont allow others to do so.
9. What are the Visible Side Affects of Bending more towards Hope/Mercy (Ar-Rahman الرحمن, Ar-Rahim الرحيم)?
Those of us who bend more towards Hope/mercy (Ar-Rahman الرحمن, Ar-Rahim الرحيم) are most likely to stop fearing the (Al-Jalil الجليل, Qahhar القهار) there by does not cares much while skipping the prayers, I will discuss just one of it from some people.
To be precise for those some people skipping Obligatory prayers is common if someone reminds them of it they say they have Maula Ali a.s and Ghaus-e-azam rz to protect them, they forgets to mention who will protect from them (Maula Ali a.s and Ghaus-e-azam rz themselvs) when they get angry watching these so called name takers doing all this and using their blessed names as an excuse.
10. If someone is more disrespectfull to the Ghaus-e-Azam then its those some people, if not for those few/some people who use their name(Maula Ali a.s and Ghaus-e-azam rz) & praise them while continue to go completely against their teachings, against their Sunnah, against their Tareeqat, yet have the audicity to self proclaim that they are the Ussaq/Aashiqeen (followers/Lovers) of (Maula Ali a.s and Ghaus-e-azam rz). O Allah please forgive all of us & guide us, take us and make us walk on the correct path of Al-anbiya, As-Siddiqeen, As-Shuhada and As-Saliheen (Aulia Allah).
11. Which is the Correct Religion?
I will give only directions you may follow as we all are quite smart enough. There are those who do not believe in Allah s.w.t himself (for the sake of english readers and their ease let say God) we know what the world calls them.
Then comes those who believe in God (Allah s.w.t) but make partners with him like Children/Wife we know both what the world calls them & what Islam calls them.
12. Then comes a different Group which believes in God(Allah s.w.t) but do not believe in one or more of his messengers (Prophets a.s) for instance.
Those who believe in Mosas (Musa a.s) & Allah s.w.t they were right but when Jesus (Isa a.s) declared himself to be the prophet they refused, so we know what the world calls them.
Then comes those who believe in Mosas (Musa a.s) & Jesus (Isa a.s) and were right means believers until the Laste Messenger arrived & they turned their face away, we know what the world calls them & what we call them.
13. Then Comes yet another Group which believes in Allah s.w.t and His Rasoolallah pbuh however they don't believe in the first 3 Rulers (Khulafa-e-Rashideen) viz. Abu Bakr rz, Omer rz, and Othman rz, but left Maula Ali a.s rz and we know what they are called In Islam.
They were followed by another group which Rejected those first 3 Rulers (Khulafa-e-Rashideen) and followed only Maula Ali a.s rz thus we know what they are called.
Likewise comes another Group who believed in those 4 Rulers but rejected the 4 Imam's viz. Al-Imam Al-Azam Abu Hanifa rh, Al-Imam Al-Shafai, Al-Imam Al-Malik and Al-Imam Al-Hanbal, thankfully world understood which group they belong to.
Moving next comes a group which believed in those 4 Imam's but refused to believe the 4 Peers of Tariqat, I will stop here (Discussion on Hadith & Quranic Ayat is Hidden inside and all over this Topic.
O Allah s.w.t please forgive our known & unknown mistakes irrespective of whether they are big or small, shower us your with your mercy & make us walk on the right path, bejahi Taha wa Yaseen.
